Announces free Wi-Fi installation in Patkai campus

PATKAI: “The State government is trying best to address the natural disaster caused by unprecedented rainfalls in Nagaland and is thankful to millions of people in the country who stood for Nagaland during the crisis,” said Legislator and Advisor, IT Science and Technology, New and Renewable Energy, Mmhonlumo Kikon.

The utilization of CM Relief Fund is carried out with utmost transparency, Kikon added, addressing a mammoth gathering of students, faculties and staffs at Patkai Christian College on the occasion of “44th Annual Social’ of the college here today.

On the occasion, much to the delight of the Patkains, Kikon announced free Wi-Fi installation for the college campus for which the state government has tied up with Reliance Jio.

He further urged the students to dive into larger challenges that of the state and have a collaborative and cooperative attitude towards the issues.

Highlighting on pressing concern like unemployment, he stressed on the need to focus on a market-driven educational system along with upholding values and morals and pledging towards better future of the state.

Stating that there are currently 75000 registered unemployed youths, he said that the educational institutes need to design curriculums to enhance skills and produce skilled labors with maximum economic value.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal, PCC Husazu Epao welcomed the new batch of more than 580 students to the state’s premier institute.

With a community of more than 2000 students from pre-primary to post graduation, he said the institute is growing everyday with bigger challenges and responsibilities towards the society.

On the day he also informed that the college is the first institute in the North East to adopt the technology of Enterprise resource planning (ERP).

ERP is an integrated application to streamline all the processes including, administration, attendance, teacher management, inventory and facilities management, transport, generating reports like examination, mark sheets and also helpful in managing database of the students and coordinating with parents.

The Principal further informed that the college has introduced a new discipline titled as ‘Communication Studies’ to cater to the needs of job markets in the state and country as a whole.

The course is targeted at enhancing skills of the youths. Careers in all aspects of media, such as journalism, publication, and broadcasting and other areas like public relations, marketing, human resources, corporate training,  event management are accommodated.

The discipline provides theory, tools, and techniques for analyzing, managing and improving communication in every arena of professional and personal interaction.

The course offers diploma, advanced diploma and bachelor degree in Communication Studies. The admission stands open for few vacant seats as of now. So far more than 32 students have enrolled for courses.

President Student Union PCC Tssentsu T. Odyuo speaking about the event said it marks the end journey of the final year students in Patkai and beginning for the new batch of students thereby entrusting each one of them to be the torch bearer in the society.

Finance Secretary SUPCC Kholou David, Sinkelo Tep and Rn Kanringla also spoke on the occasion. Cultural show displaying ethnic attires of the indigenous tribes of the North East region added to the limelight.
